Bahia OURAHOU بهية أورحو

Bahia OURAHOU بهية أورحو
(b. in 1999), is an artist graduated from the École nationale supérieure d’art de Paris-Cergy and from the École nationale supérieure de la photographie d'Arles. From a young age, she was drawn to visual arts, initially starting with drawing and painting, and later, during her adolescence, she developed an interest in photography and video, which she learned independently. Her curiosity for images grew and solidified during her years at art school, which led her to specialize and apply for a master's program at the ENSP in Arles. She lives and works between Paris, Arles, and Rabat. As part of her studies, she had the opportunity to participate in an academic exchange in Valencia, Spain. Her journey has led her to immigrate and live around the Mediterranean, and this sea and its shores have become a central element in her artistic practice. Indeed, her photographic projects explore the geographical and intimate territories she traverses, which are integral to her identity. Her sensitivity has directed her attention to her generation, to the youth who inhabit the landscapes she focuses on, as well as to grief and familial bonds. She has had the opportunity to present her work on several occasions, including at the Festival du Regard in Cergy-Pontoise in 2021, the Rencontres de la photographie d'Arles in 2022 and 2024, and the PhotoSaintGermain Festival at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 2024. In 2023, she held her first solo exhibition of photographs, Terrains sensibles, in Rabat.
